5 year+ pet peeves....
My biggest pet peeves about blender for the last 5 years....
- "track to" constraint causes the camera to turn sideways after applying...forcing me to
reset the target settings as follows to turn it right side up again... ....axis -z, Y, target z.... can you fix this this so that when you target an object it automatically defaults to these settings... 2. ...Automatically assign the "default material" to an object upon creation... (with "receive transparent shadows" being "activated" by for the default material (for blender render settings) 3. Also, it would be nice if there was a way to simply "select faces", apply UV and have a "Vertex group" automatically assigned with a default name..."vgroup01" or something and a corresponding "UVgroupmap" as well... and have both "auto-assigned, locked, and deselected" (with option to unlock, unassign and deselect afterward if not required) These steps are often routinely used when working while UV mapping and texturing objects... combining would speed up process tremendously... 4. ...the "assign, deselect, and lock" above would help prevent accidentally overwriting previous assignments by preventing a previously "assigned selection" from accidentally from being included subsequent Vgroup selections... which causes conflicted results during material and texture assignments... 5. And maybe automatically create and assign a vertextexture01 with the UVgroupmap already assigned and activated in the texture options so that it is ready for use as well...
... These suggestions would make understanding "how vertex groups, uvmaps and Material/texture assignments" work together better, (especially for noobs)
...These changes would make the process of assigning specific textures to specific Face/Vertgroups easier as well as simplify the number of steps to "quickly" assign various materials to different parts of object meshes. thanx, you guys are doing great!!

There are at least 3 separate and unrelated proposals in here. I would strongly recommend that you break this up into separate proposal posts so folks can address each of these ideas individually.
@Jason van Gumster: Agree ! Plus text formatting & spacing and even mockups/pictures illustrations to make it readable and clear.
It's already difficult for anyone to read a big brick of text. It's even harder when it's not your native language. Both combined... TL;DR : nobody reads it.
sorry, I meant to say "unlock, select-and-unassign then deselect optional afterward" instead of "unlock, unassign and deselect afterward".
