Feature Request: Can we have set driven keys like maya?

I rig in maya and in blender for different projects and I do think blender would benefit a lot from a set driven key feature instead of trying to use drivers for everything...

I don't know if blender do not have or I am not aware of a way to create a custom properties that could linearly interpolate from 0 to 1 (values of the custom property) a set rotation for some bones, just like maya's set driven keys.

I do realize that there must be a way to to this with drivers but they are nowhere as practical as maya's set driven keys.

Blender's Driven Keys set up does just that and is much easier to use than Maya's.

  1. Choose the attribute you want to drive and right click select > Copy As New Driver
  2. Pick the attribute to be driven and right click > Paste Driver.

You can further tweak by right clicking > Open Driver editor and adjust the curve function.

Hi bro.. Is it possble to create a new attribute instead of using existing attribute (location, rot, scale) ?

Yes at the bottom of the properties window for most things you will find Custom properties. You make your own and use that as the driving or driven property, whatever you like.

Blender uses drivers and custom properties . But I definitely wish there was some inspiration taken from Maya's UX.

Why does everyone downvote stuff that has the word "Maya" in it?? Yes, 1000% set driven keys need to be simplified in Blender!

It's already simpler than Maya's if you bother learning how to do it. You right click any channel you want to be the driver and select "Copy as New Driver". Go to any channel you want to be Driven, right click and select "Paste Driver". You are done. Doesn't get much simpler. You can then right click and select "Open Drivers editor" if you want to edit the control curve to get the exact values you want or change tangents etc...
