Recognition of AMD(Pro) video cards in HIP (Linux)

Hello! I don't know if this can be considered an idea, but in my case this is a huge problem, under Linux OS.

  • I would like the blender to support the free AMD driver, and recognize the video card in the HIP menu without dancing with tambourines.

In my case, iron:

  • AMD Ryzen 9 3900X
  • AMD Radeon Pro W5500

On Manjaro and Ubuntu, I could not install the proprietary driver for the video card, I tried different methods, the easiest was to switch to Ubuntu, where the driver installation is in 2 lines. It did not help.

As a result, I switched to Windows, due to the fact that the blender does not recognize the video card by the free driver.

(By the way, the processor is also not displayed in the Cycle processing devices, but the rendering works only on the processor)

Can Blender take this problem into account, or is it a problem of driver development and AMD personally?

That sounds more like something to be reported on the tracker. RCS is for feature proposal, that's not really suited for driver issues.

In Blender you can go to the menu Help > Report a bug.

Yes, it might look like it. But this is not a bug, blender only works with proprietary drivers. That's why the idea of this post is to support the free amd driver
