Please can we have a 'Close Window' button in the GUI?
Please.
Please, please.
Please, please, PLEASE can we have a 'close window' button in Blender?
'Click' and the window closes - so simple. Available in every other WIMP environment I've come across - and I first used a computer in 1969, playing 'Lunar Landing' on a PDP 8. If it's ambiguous which way to expand the remaining windows, a simple drop-down would suffice - although often it's not.
I know how to close windows in Blender, but sometimes it still maniacally produces unwanted, ever-smaller windows instead, as I try to correct my error. And if I've been away for a while, I sometimes have to look this up again. It's just so frustrating, for an action that is so simple in every other program I use.
I know it's cool to have something unique about an app's environment, but something as simple as this must be a real turn-off for first timers, as well as a source of genuine, recurrent frustration for diletantes such as myself.
So much work has gone into making 2.8 more user-friendly, I was surprised to see this source of anguish had been left in.
Please. Please! PLEASE!!! Please can we have a 'close window' button?

What "windows" are you talking about? I have no idea what you mean. Are you talking about areas? Can you show us a mock-up that show how your idea would work?
* @Faruk Ahmet * yeah, i'm with you- i have no idea what this proposal is about. If you want to close blender, click the X in the top right? I haven't had any issues closing anything I wanted to close in blender, so you're going to have to be more specific. A screenshot with a mockup of what you're asking for would go a long way.
Since Blender has a tiling window manager (in Blender terms, it's an area manager), you're going to have to describe some pretty detailed rules for defining how other areas fill in the space when you click to remove/collapse an existing one.
You've brought up an issue you're having, but you haven't actually proposed an actionable solution.
I rarely open or close "windows" in blender so I dislike this idea just because X-close button will take some UI space in each tile, yes, it is not windows you see in blender, those are tiles, because Blender is mainly tile-based UI. Like this youtu.be/j1I63wGcvU4 Switch between workspaces instead of opening/closing tiles without any sense.
