Object/data tab from outliner

Since double clicking on outliners icons does nothing, wouldn't it be cool if it bringed up the right property tab, without the need of searching the right label to click on? Not a big deal, ok, but when one works on the outliner, it may be very handy

This should be marked as done.

I think it can be changed to done status with 2.92+

I was surprised to see those icons called mesh data or whatever are only informative. In Maya and Cinema 4d there is a live connection between what you clicked in the outliner and the property editor and its so naturally to be like that.
Here is the thread in the dev talk devtalk.blender.org/t/outliner-improvements-ideas/7185/59

How would this work if you have multiple Property Editors open? Would they all change context unless they're pinned?

hehehe man, this sync between outliner and property panel is a feature I have been waiting for 20 years

Yeah, that was actually brilliant. :)

That's a great idea! Any added functionality to the outliner is super welcome in my opinion
