curves need some love
Curves are very poorly supported in Blender. A lot of properties and functions have been inherited from meshes but in a messy unstructured way. I think a bit of work here would make a lot of the work done on geometry nodes hair much simpler, more generic and more comprehensible. I can't believe this has not already come up - is there another thread?
Curves have an implicit curve to mesh lathe operation which means if the bevel depth box is non zero they become meshes. This should be a modifier (put in by default to preserve backwards compatibility).
If I apply a deformation modifier like a curve modifier the curve becomes a mesh and I lose information like radius. it also causes errors when using curves as inputs to geometry nodes.
Curves have points but these points do not have vertex weights, just something called "Weight". This causes peculiar behaviour when applying hooks and makes it hard to drive a curve with an armature or physics or, well, just about anything.I
Geometry nodes always output a mesh as far as I can see. Why not a curve? An essential step to properly applying modifiers to curves.
