Automatic Exposure in Viewport

guys what about an automatic exposure in the viewport at least like luxrender, this is a big one, we never know if the lighting is right, and how. we have 32bit float data, so cmon...

Just put a automatic exposure checkbox beneath the exposure slider under Render Settings/Film and when you click it on, the image is autoexposed, now on the autoexposure sider, you could do average, max peak (lets say above 1.0), and threshold.

Maybe for the folks who don't use Luxrender, you could describe how this feature works and how you would suggest activating it in Blender's interface.
