Add modifier to all selected objects

An option to add a modifier to all the selected objects and not only the active one. This is not the same as linking modifiers, since i could add a modifier to objects that already have different sets of modifiers.

I think this could be done with a check box (add to active object/add to all selected objects) or button on the current add modifier drop down menu.

I needed this a couple of times.

This is already in Blender , you need to assign it to an object, the modifier you want, and then select all objects, and use the comand Crtl+L and its menu the way you want,

The difficulty with this method is that it obliterates any existing modifiers you have on the receiving object. The Copy Attributes method is the better choice.

ah.. yes, right, that is really useful

The Copy Attributes add-on gives you the ability to copy selected modifiers from the active object to other selected objects. That gets you most of the way there.

Thanks, I tried it, but it seems to do exactly the same as I said, of linking modifiers with ctrl+l, so, it breaks the modifiers or each of the other selected objects, and that is what Im trying to avoid.

Speedflow addon allows you to do that ;) But yes, that should be possible by blender.

Thanks, didnt know that, haven't tried but it does seem like an awesome addon.

I'm not sure what version of Copy Attributes you're using, but for me the Copy Selected Modifiers operator in the <kbd>Ctrl</kbd>+<kbd>C</kbd> menu (when Copy Attributes is enabled) doesn't clobber existing modifiers at all. It just copies one modifier (or more) from your active object to all of other selected objects, including the same settings.

here, I used this as a quick hack but would be much better if it is part of the interface.

import bpy for obj in bpy.context.selected_objects: bpy.context.scene.objects.active = obj bpy.ops.object.modifier_add(type='SOLIDIFY')
