Ability to add notes on Objects, Collections, Dope sheet Channels(Groups), Nodes.
It would help to better plan some actions, and for some it would help to check edits and make notes on problematic objects.
And it also solves the problem of the name length, which is limited to 63 characters. For many people I think this would be a good alternative.

In the same thought, It would be fantastic to allow editing the tooltips of a modifier input to inform the future user, add an input property note, or add a modifier property note field.
Yes, I would find this so useful. I created a similar post. my idea was to have the notes pop up as a tool tip.
Could a text file be read by python that processes the notes?
Can the objects in the outliner already use the tool-tip attribute?
Maybe it would be easier to add a Notes section to the Property's window, with a drop down menu for all objects in the scene.
I can see people wanting check-boxes so that copied items inherit notes. Maybe also a checkbox to display warnings etc.. lots of scope
My now deleted original post;
In the Outliner window add a menu item that allows users to add notes as a tool tip to models.
Could be useful when;
This proposal also asks for this (though less generally): blender.community/c/rightclickselect/x1nE/
My initial reaction to the idea was, "No." Having considered it for a bit, though, I cannot reconstruct why I thought that.
Is it replicating function? Annotations? Notes in the text editor? The text editor works once when the file is opened (assuming "Load GUI" is enabled, which I don't do), but who wants to go back and forth for many objects? Annotations work with tablet input; otherwise, not so much.
Besides, both are blender-file based. Which is to say, what happens to the information I meticulously entered when I export to obj, fbx, stl?
We need more detail on this and other aspects, but I can imagine its usefulness. Perhaps this note system could be imported/exported via json or csv for external editing.
In node editing, a trick I learned from Pablo Vasquez is to add a lone reroute node, Ctrl-J to make a frame around it, and then F2 to title it -- thus making a note you can place near things. This is a hack (the text does not wrap, for one thing), but it shows the need for a real solution.
annotations??!! hand written annotations? I can't even read my own hand writing most of the time
