Orbit around center position by surface "tracing"/"collision"
Orbiting view based on surface "collision" based point. Especially in sculpting mode this would be helpful feature. It could update hit/collision/surface point after moving camera/view to different position - but when using orbit then it will recalculate closest surface point for "orbit origin"/"orbit center" - automatic update. Or - some shortcut to project view/camera's orbit origin / center to surface beneath cursor when its updated (-insert button)

Very useful feature in 3D Coat! Basically “orbit around cursor position on surface”. Honestly an essential tool for 3D sculpting navigation.
Did you tried "View - Align View - View Lock to Active" ?
yup.. but it doesnt work as smooth / not the way think it "should" work - or maybe i am doing something wrong? But what i am looking is like in using Lock: To 3D Cursor - (and when i use shift + right mouse button (rmb) i can use it realtime (at least in 2d space - depth will be same :/ that would be nice to have update feature in realtime also) and when using shif t+ rmb i can change orbit position but what i am looking for is similar thing but automatically (if activated from some menu) - so it could be like automated 3d cursor that will be in center but depth (closest surface position) and possibility to make cursor position always be 3d cursor position based on surface hit (closest surface under mouse cursor position) .
So maybe lock: to 3d cursor feature could be automated some how - at the moment it need to be updated manually by using shift + left mouse button (its nice but more automatic /interactive / realtime would be nice - and depth / surface hit calculation updates when moving in the scene when needed )
But i can live with this also - using manually lock: to 3d cursor - by using shift + right mouse button - it just could have second option (automatic position update based on camera hit when user start rotate / operate view angle - based on center position or / and mouse cursor position update). But this isn't world end - just trying to think "faster"/easier workflow (because using shift + right mouse button - shortcut is pretty slow when i need to use everytime when i am operating view angle/camera in fast sculpting session where i do cleaning and after that retopology).
