There should be an option to make saving images automatic (with the same automatic numbering scheme as animations). I render crude still images for prototyping constantly and I always want them saved, but Blender makes me go through the whole rigmarole of manual saving every time. It's annoying that you can make a 1-frame animation and it will be automatically saved, but a single picture will always require you to confirm that you don't want to just throw it away. It's inconsistent and it wastes a lot of time. A toggle option would be great for everybody's use case.

I disagree. I often find myself rendering images over and over trying to get it right before I ever want to save the results. Sometimes I’m just rendering single frames as test samples for said adjustment when the resulting product is going to end up as an animation. I consider this as a rookie feature request since I used to feel this way, but I certainly no longer do.

Calling people rookies is not only useless, but rude and childish. You're talking to real life people and you need to show some professionalism and respect.

I often screenshot test renders, especially when I drastically change a value because I was bored and want to remember to go back and play with that decision more on a different day. The annoying thing is no meta data about the scene is saved in the screenshot. I'd love for all cycles settings to be stored in the metadata of all saved renders.

Been using Blender for 13 years... Why not have both? Nothing stops that.

I think you misunderstood. I don’t mean any disrespect by calling him a rookie. It’s just a “new guy.” Everyone, including myself, is a rookie at first in any particular field.

I agree, and I would like your comment, but the button doesn’t seem to be working correctly.

Saving and viewing renders needs to be reworked completely. The current system is nothing but papercuts and ancient.
