Snap to Curve
Currently, Blender offers a powerful snapping tool that facilitates precise alignment of mesh vertices to other mesh elements. However, I would like to propose an extension of this snapping functionality to include the ability to snap mesh vertices to a curve.
This enhancement would be particularly useful for users working on projects that involve precise curve alignment and modeling with curve guides.

Wow! When I read this, I was thinking "this is already possible, just snap to edges ", but turns out, it isn't!
This definitely has to be added in!
Yesterday, purely by accident, I discovered a workaround that doesn't require converting the curves to meshes. I've created a short tutorial demonstrating the process: youtu.be/EUIunxcEEJg
Nevertheless, I would appreciate it if this could be considered as an official feature.
Your solution is funky, indeed. I'd absolutely love the idea of snapping to curves!
I've just tested snapping to vertices on a curve, which works, only on control points though.
I feel like the snapping settings should get some extra settings to choose what parts of a curve can be snapped to (only control points/the whole curve, as if converted to mesh).
I've just thought about a different, maybe more clean workaround, which is to use Geometry nodes. Just put a
Curve to Meshnode in between the geometry input and output. You can easily disable the modifier for renders, and benefit from snapping to the curve itself.I just tested your method, and it works like a charm. Great take! I might do a video on this too and quote your name in the video.
