Grouping of Grease Pencil Layers
When extensively working with the grease pencil, many Grease Pencil layers will be used. This will enventually get confusing (see screenshot, taken from the "ForYou.blend" (see vimeo.com/113610809).
My idea is that the user can create named groups and thus for example put finished layers or layers that belong together in a group. This would clearly structure the list and avoid searching and scrolling through it.
This idea was marked as a duplicate of Folders in greasepencil layers.

On a functional level, I agree.
On a technical level, there are... "challenges" ;)
So, it is a planned feature on the GP Roadmap, and it is something want to address. The question though is how to do that (and importantly, without breaking backwards compatibility) :)
Yh, this will help a lot. Can you please tell the estimated version where this will get integrated?
Just started exploring grease pencil and ran into this hurdle pretty much immediately. Without some kind of grouping of layers or sublayering system, you're forced to toggle multiple opacity sliders, multiple onion visibilities, multiple lock layers etc. This isn't just inefficient but a total turn off from using blender for 2d animation. If you have two layers, thats fine. But if you have 40 layers with no way to organize or group layers.. Nope. This is a huge problem and kind of disappointing to see it hasn't been addressed in 4 years. Wow
