BLENDER LITE?
Hi, I have a question related to how blender behaves with old PCs. I'm not a developer or anything related to programming, so I don't know if it is possible to compile some kind of "lite" version of Blender for old PC's or PC's with very very very low specs. I think it could be a nice idea to implement some kind of option at the beggining of the program that lets you choose which characteristic do you want to keep enabled. For example: if you only want to model+render, why do you have to load VSE, or 2D animation+grease pencil, etc.? Could that be possible? Could that be beneficial to low spec PC's?

... Blender already weight 129 Mb and you ask for " why do you have to load VSE, or 2D animation+grease pencil, etc.? " Have you ever download and install some Adobe or Autodesk software with ton of junk inside ( 4 - 5 Gb installer )?
You want to " model and render " ( but without too heavy VSE and grace pencil of course) on your smart watches so 129 Mb is too much? Sorry, it may sound offensive, but are you serious?
Blender Setup on a Raspberry Pi Zero
* @IIIFGIII * I’m sorry if I’ve ofended you, but not everyone owns a high-end computer. I have one laptop, it’s old and some time ago I was able work with blender, a bit slow, I know, but I was able to open the program at least (I think it was version 2.5 or 2.49). Now Blender needs a high-end PC and a medium/high graphics card to run well or even to be able to open. I was just trying to know if there was a way to run the new Blender in low end or old computers.
I know I could install old versions, but that was not my question.
Yes, seriously
* @Aranzazu Hurtado Ruiz * well blender is open source there must be some forum you can ask for help in reducing the size but addling blender lite on top of already light blender officially for the occasional user who want to use it on a very low spec device, does not seem right to me at least, which is kind of what you are asking by saying "option at the beginning of the program that lets you choose which characteristic do you want to keep enabled".
the thing you are looking for might already exist. a separate light version of blender that runs on smaller or lowspec devices i mean.
Chill guys by lite he didn't mean "size" i guess, but performance. And no bro there is no lite version to blender but you can download and install any old version of blender from their official website " download.blender.org/release/ " which might work little better in your system if it's old. Size don't matter in softwares you can run 35gb software smoothly while 35mb software may need more specs and lag badly in your systems.
blender is already very lite it makes me wonder why do other software have such big sizes with the same features
