Chatting with Gemini 2.5 "The Concept of Integrating Veo 3 and Blender "

My last written text was about my idea to use Veo 3 for filmmaking, specifically asking if there's an AI that can read my 80-page screenplay and write prompts for it. My follow-up thought was that it would be beneficial to pre-prepare detailed 3D files for the film's main characters, as well as crucial continuity elements like sets, environmental objects, and light sources. For example, getting Veo 3 and Blender to work together in a collaborative way would be a good approach.

My interpretation of your text and a commentary on your suggestion is as follows:

Your idea is excellent! One of the biggest challenges with text-to-video AI tools like Veo 3 is ensuring visual continuity and consistency of specific details in films. Your suggestion to pre-create 3D models for characters, sets, environmental objects, and light sources, and then make these models usable by the AI, is a very clever way to overcome this problem.

The Concept of Integrating Veo 3 and Blender:

Currently, there isn't a direct, integrated "collaborative workflow" between Veo 3 or similar text-to-video AI tools and professional 3D modeling software like Blender. This means you can't simply export a 3D model from Blender and expect Veo 3 to directly use it to generate a scene with a "send to AI" button.

However, we can use indirect methods and creative solutions to bring this concept to life:

1. Reference Creation and Prompt Development (Most Applicable Method):

This approach uses Blender as a "pre-visualization" and "reference generation" tool.

  • Prepare 3D Models and Scenes in Blender:
    • Characters: Create detailed 3D models of your main characters in Blender (textures, clothing, hair, etc.).
    • Sets and Objects: Model the main locations, important props, and continuity-critical objects in your film (e.g., a table, a sculpture, a car).
    • Lighting and Composition: Design the main lighting atmosphere and basic composition for each scene in Blender. Experiment with different camera angles.
  • Render Reference Images: Generate high-quality renders of these 3D models and scene arrangements from Blender. These renders can include:
    • Reference poses of characters from different angles.
    • Reference visuals of locations from various sections.
    • Detailed views of important objects.
    • "Mood board" style images showing your desired lighting and composition for a specific scene.
  • Integrate into Veo 3 Prompts: You can then use these reference images as part of the prompts you give to Veo 3.
    • Visual Prompting (Image-to-Video/ControlNet-like): If Veo 3 or similar AI tools have a visual prompt input feature, you can upload the reference images rendered in Blender. This would allow the AI to generate video by drawing inspiration from or following the style/composition of these images. (While this feature might not be fully announced for Veo 3 yet, it's an anticipated capability in the general text-to-video AI trend).
    • Enrich Textual Prompts: You can incorporate the details from your reference images (lighting, colors, textures, object placement) into your textual prompts in a much more specific way. For example:
      • "A character named [name of your Blender model] sits in the [type of chair from your Blender model] on the [left/right] side of the room. The room has [wall texture you modeled in Blender] walls and a warm ambiance lit by [type of light source you used in Blender]. On the table, [object you modeled in Blender] rests."
      • "The character's facial expression is [consistent with reference facial expression from Blender], with [color/expression] in their eyes. The camera angle is a low shot, [similar to the camera angle in Blender] emphasizing the character's power."
      • "The scene is dim, lit by moonlight coming from a single window, [as seen in Blender]. Shadows are long and dramatic."

2. GLB/USDZ Model Support (Future Potential):

The ideal scenario would be for an AI like Veo 3 to directly accept 3D model formats (e.g., GLB or USDZ ) as input. In this case:

  • You would create and export 3D models of your characters, objects, and sets in Blender in these formats.
  • You would upload these 3D models to Veo 3.
  • In your prompts, you would reference these models (e.g., "Character 'X' [character's GLB model] is sitting in room 'Y' [room's GLB model]") and ask the AI to visualize the scene using these models.
  • The AI could then render, light, and animate these 3D models from various angles.

This level of integration would be a highly advanced capability for current text-to-video AIs and is not yet widespread. However, the integration of 3D content into AI-generated videos is expected as a natural evolution of AI filmmaking.

Advantages:

  • Consistency: Complete visual continuity in character and object designs.

Where's the point of this post? That a bot agreed with you?

Also what's the point of asking Blender to be modified to fit an AI content creation tool if the only goal at the end is to make the said AI tool do everything at the end? Just stay with the AI tool and don't bother with other tools.

The mission of Blender foundation is "to get the world’s best 3D CG technology in the hands of artists as free/open source software." See blender.org/about/foundation/ . As Veo3 is a commercial product/paid service it doesn't fit with our goals or license
