Continuos select operator setting for Tweak tool

Add a 'continuous select' operator option to the Tweak Tool that stays active while holding a modifier key (e.g. Shift).

Blender currently lacks a precise polygon selection tool and while this is beyond the core function of the tool, it is at this time the closest candidate.

Select circle 'feels' more paint oriented than surgical, and have the issue described here: blender.community/c/rightclickselect/6WjO/

Example from Modo:

Make the circle smaller?

Can literally duplicate what you're showing in your example, in Blender.

The issue here is that you have to use 2 separate selection Tools to achieve certain selections or functionality.

Yes, you can replicate that selection with Select Circle, but you have to change the selection tool (and often change it back). For example, Circle Select doesn't set Active Element, so you need to change back to Tweak to set that.

I find it a bit cumbersome in Blender that I have to change between selection tools. As a former Modo user, I used to have one selection "tool" that handled all situations. In Blender, I find that I need to change my selection tool quite often ( even though I have some scripts and modifications to ease out this issue ).

So the question is not whether the particular selection can be done or not, but rather how convoluted it is to do. Instead of just clicking and dragging, you need to change the selection tool, which takes a few clicks or key presses, depending on your setup.

I personally would like to have a selection tool that would be basically the Tweak Tool without the Tweak . So, instead of moving stuff, the dragging would work as paint selection, the same way as Circle Select works.

Actually, I don't like the "Tweak" thing in the Tweak tool at all, as I fear I accidentally move stuff. For moving, I always use the Move Tool (G). So, If I could choose, I would prefer to have a general selection tool that would paint when dragging, instead of moving stuff. It would fit much better to my workflow preferences.

This could be done simply by adding an option to the Tweak tool to either move stuff or paint select (circle select).

Maybe the name should be changed to Tweak and Select, as Tweak wihout moving would be a bit counter intuitive.

Can you duplicate it consistently with 1 key press? Being able to duplicate a behavior is not really relevant unless it maps 1:1 with the request.

Yes, I can. Choose the circle selection tool, and start painting your selection.

the selection in Modo was probably one of the best features of that software... o7

I was very confused when blender lacked a tool so integral to modelling

Well, Modo lacked a lot of tools that Blender has.

Modo is now dead, and Blender is still here. Who made the better choice?
