Fix Weight Paint Mode

Please Blender, fix weight paint mode... If you click on a vertex group, and/or adjust any weight settings, then paint a bit on the mesh and decide you don't really like what you did with the brush stroke, if you click undo it also undoes settings and jumps to whatever vertex group is 'active' despite you having clicked on it. This also applies to using weight actions. If I click on a vertex group, click levels, and then try to adjust the level, it jumps to whatever the "active" vertex group is despite me having clicked on a different one.

The only way to make sure clicking undo or an operator doesn't screw things up is to make your changes in weight paint mode, switch to a different mode, and then switch back to weight mode, then try to do whatever it is you were trying to do.

The problems and behavior with weight paint mode aren't the same as the other modes.

While I'm at, I could say that being able to reorganize vertex group order easier (like being able to drag them around instead of using an arrow to move them). And the ability to search for a vertex group within the tab of my particular mesh's vertex groups rather than having to search all of the meshes in my scene. Maybe have an option for the mirror modifier to generate automatic L_, R_ pairs if you are mirroring vertex groups. Otherwise, you have to create empty groups sometimes in order to mirror them. Maybe a built-in feature to remove empty vertex groups.

The data loss on undo sound like a bug to me. You can report it be pressing Help: Report a bug from inside blender, or by going here .
