More interface input types for nodegroups

Nodegroups are an important part of developing shaders and materials for the internet, so it would be great if our nodegroups had more controls than just sliders and colors. As you can see in the thumbnail, thats all the nodegroups can do. Maybe add toggle switches, colorramp sliders, texture slots, and maybe even let us change the input type without having to delete it and make a new one.

* @-L0Lock- * yes if you want to do a simple switch on off you have to use greater than but this is a little poor as solution...

No i want a checkbox :c

The main things I really want to see would be:

  • Dropdown input
  • Normal (where it actually defaults to the mesh normal)

File path input would be awesome, but there's currently no way to make use of it...

You've shown what it would look like. How would the user control what the inputs are? Where in the Blender interface would those controls go? I'm assuming it'd the the Properties region (N panel) of the Node editor, but it would be best if you could illustrate what you expect that to look like.

* @Jason van Gumster * it could work by just draging and drop in the node some options of the others nodes. and for boolean just an option of a mathnode turning the value zone into a switch or something like this

I did an eeveeglass and a shadow catcher for eevee and a node group for advance hdri's settings and I was like really, this is all what you can give blender? frustrating...and OSL is long to learn for a poor result... so maybe scripting, but I need few more years to have the level... but for mister everybody that's quickly very limitated. except the shortcuts! to many useless, this is a mess, and not synchronized with the excellent node wrangler. but maybe with animation node they will have to see all this again... they discovered recently you can press an empty place to unselect...I did this since a while trough shortcut, with a copy of the grab function and changing the release options...I grab with mouse btw and not G! so illogical! but maybe advanced nodes are not a priority in 3D...

like having access to a directory path...or some parameter without entries like in the mapping node...
