Improve 3d view Background placement

I think the Background option in the 3d viewport is so wonky to use, I would almost consider it broken. It's impossible to place the images with any precision, you keep on seeing videos where artists are rather using a textured plane in the 3d scene, than using the background option. Which is sad, because otherwise it's an amazing feature, it's just so broken when it comes to the translation and scaling of the background image.

What makes most sense is if we could just grab the background image somehow and move it with G_Key and scale with S_Key just as any other object in 3d space. That would be the most artist friendly solution,

maybe a 10 minute quick fix solution would to look at how backdrops are handled in the compositing editor, and implement that layout.

and most important get that "move" button, [fig. A] into the Background setting in 3d view. The whole layout in my opinion is better structured than the current implementation. So X, Y, Move into Background offset panel.

Yes. And even compositor backplate management can be optimized. But first let's enhance how this site works! 5 identical posts??? Come on!

I've taken care of the duplicate posts. Let's continue discussion on this idea.
