Flight Check for Blender

I have just been doing some work in Adobe Indesign and thought of a good idea. They have a little box down on the lower left hand side with a polite green dot and the comforting words "No Errors"

I think something like this would help to have a quick check before rendering, etc.

This would make a good addon, for user determined errors and debug points, with different tiers of flight checks

@Wo! 262: The concept certainly saves my life in InDesign. I know you can go to mesh analysis in edit mode but it would be nice if Blender could be made a little more AI.

Something similar offered (sadly not maintained) Pablo's s add-on Amaranth (Scene debug)

@postolka: HolyCarp I didn't even know that existed. It looks good. Maybe it needs to be loved a little and given a little more marketing.

well, not a bad idea. In indesign there's a whole section of the software for setting profiles that trigger the red dot. In blender, apart missing files, what would you consider error that prevent rendering?

@Lsscpp: Render was just an example off the top of my head. I think more things like overhangs, distortion, doubles (yea sometimes you want them), stuff you could set up as "things to check" that are particular to your model, missing textures, you know..... stuff.

One mans error is another mans intent..... Good point. I am thinking more for things like you would see in mesh analysis, things like overhang, distortion, problem intersection, stuff that is the usual pain when you go to render or model. As with Indesign you do not have to change them if they are what you want.

The difficulty is determining what constitutes an error. There are some checks like this in add-ons intended for 3D printing. That's probably still the best place for them, IMHO.
