Spacebar for search and then toolbar no longer has hotkeys?

Seems if you set the spacebar for timeline, you can shift+spacebar then hotkey for the toolbar items. However with the new spacebar = search, it seems to totally disable the hotkeys for the toolbar tools. Mousing over them displays no hotkeys available. If blender seeks to make itself available to new users, it needs to have the basic transform tools easily accessible from a hotkey like Max, Maya and other products. Most have the move/rotate/scale widgets keyed to a single keystroke to change manipulators, but the manipulators in the current beta seem buried. While present as icons, they require two keystrokes rather than one to access. Which blows my mind because moving/rotating stuff is one of the things we do most. I would expect them to get single stroke hotkeys over other features that are used less often.
