Add "Halt Conditions," to Cycles
I've been playing around with Luxrender recently, and my favorite feature by far is how the "halt conditions," work.
Basically there are 3 halt conditions, Time, Sample count, and Noise Threshold. You can set more than one, and Luxrender will stop the render at whichever it reaches first, so for example I could set a noise threshold to my desired noise level, and time to a max of 10 minutes. That way if during my animation I had a weird frame that took 100x longer to render than average, it would stop at 10 minutes regardless.
With adaptive sampling coming soon, being able to set all 3 options would be fantastic.

Already in master
time restriction would only work with progressive refine which is not in main focus of Cycles development
With adaptive as it was implemented you already have two of thse hat conditions: samples and noise threshold. To also have the 3rd, cycles should know how long sampling each tile of the whole render will take, which as of now it's not possible. I made a proposal here to achieve that, but nothing in this regard seems to happen :(
* @ Lsscpp * Actually, now that I think about it you're right. The way luxrender works, is that it does multiple passes, where it samples each tile once, then twice, and so on. This means after the time limit is up, it just falls back to the highest sample pass it's already done. Cycles does all samples per tile at once, so this wouldn't work.
