Curve Points Bevel

Would be so cool to have the bevel feature on curves points.

Here are the two feature I can think of:

Smooth bevel

  • Bevels a point by splitting the point in two, with a perfect round shape and well placed handles.

Hard Bevel

  • Bevels a point with as much hard divisions (thus points) as you want.

There are already plenty of ways around to do this.

* @Duarte Ramos * Thanks you for the answer !! Have to admit I'm just joining the blender family, comin from max, and that's a feature I use a lot ! I look at these links, the paid addon looks old (like 5 years old) , my question is : would it still work on recent Blender builds ?

* @carreletcharly * Include Curve Tools addon in addons. There is a Bevel option. And install the Adon Flexi Draw Bézier Tool. It also has this feature and many others. Flexi Draw Bézier is highly recommended. This is a cool thing.

Just test Flexi Edit Bezier free addon at github.com/Shriinivas/blenderbezierutils and the tutorials at youtube.com/playlist (I'm not sponsored by anyone). Your need is fullfilled and intuitive ways to modify curves... Useful too in the same worflow Flexi Grease Edit for bezier functionality with Grease pencil.

NOP. this 3d. bad idea

thorntonstrolia

***@mod moder *** I am not entirely sure hat that means, but I can read that you think it's a bad idea. Care to explain? It actually sounds like a great idea to me. Maybe you have a good reason?

* @thorntonstrolia * looking at 2D it may seem that everything is easy, but in 3D the curve is more complicated

thorntonstrolia

***@mod moder *** I have been using blender for around 11 years now. I don't see how it's so complicated that this is a "bad" idea. Curves are a fundimental part of complex 3D design and plays a serious role in tens of various applications. I think it would make a great permanent addition to blender and the complexity of making it happen is not lost on me but at the end of the day the calculation it's self is quite simple. I think it's more the implementation that would be a struggle and even then it seems others have been able to do it so even still, I do not believe the argument that it is a bad idea basically, just because, is a good enough reason.
