Geometry Nodes UV Distribution

Geometry Nodes could benefit from distributing points on UV space. I made a demo of how this would look like here: twitter.com/orestiskon/status/1433364323494244357

  1. Points can be created based on UV Points and UV Polygons.

  2. Random Distribution can be created on UV grid space, with density settings.

  3. Points on overlapping UVs can be duplicated

  4. Would also benefit from coordinate conversion nodes: UV to 3D Surface and 3D Surface to UV, for making custom patterns.

Benefits of UVs: Working on UV space has the benefits of texturing workflows. They can allow to create patterns and applying them on a surface on a controlled way.

This is possible now with the "Sample UV Surface" node: developer.blender.org/D15440

Can kind of already do this

Though the way I did it, overlapping UVs will not work. Can kind of do rotation by comparing Face Area and can do rotation either with a baked tangent or by working out the tangent another way (I found a way but it's not clean)

blenderbash

It is 100% needed especially for wraping the point instances around the object using UVs.
