Assets Extraction Proposal
Blender already features a convenient function for saving custom brushes: when a brush is duplicated and saved, an automatically generated .blend file containing that brush asset is created. These files are saved in a user-defined file path in the preferences, allowing users to build a personal brush library.
It is proposed that Blender developers expand this existing logic to a wider range of assets. It would be beneficial to create a system that allows users to select any assets (models, materials, nodes, etc.) from open .blend files and, similarly to brushes, automatically save each selected asset into a separate .blend file in a user-specified path. This would provide a convenient way to extract, organize, and back up valuable resources from various projects, preventing their loss and facilitating reuse.
Therefore, the proposal is to develop a universal tool for asset "extraction" based on the already implemented brush saving functionality.
