Proportional Editing toggle ON/OFF while in Transform Modal

---Edit 2022/03/05 - Updated since I'd still like to see it in blender. ---

Similar to how Blender allows toggling snap on/off, having proportional edit toggle ON/OFF during transforms would be a workflow improvement.

I agree this should be implemented. My suggestion is just using "O" key to toggle during transform is intuitive and already the same key.

Was just about to post this! You can already toggle vertex snapping while transforming (press shift+tab) so why not be able to toggle proportional editing using 'o', exactly as you can when not transforming. It feels inconsistent, like the 'o' shortcut is deliberately disabled, exactly when you'd need it! It's a minor tweak but seems like it should be relatively simple to implement?

I guess there could be a couple of ways to trigger the proportional mode.

  • a key to toggle proportional projected on/off
  • a key to toggle proportional connected on/off

or

  • a key to toggle proportional mode on/off
  • a key to toggle between connected/projected

Yes

  • Start a transform
  • Hit a key to toggle proportional connected on/off, or another for proportional projected on/off.
  • Use the mouse wheel or 'other interaction' to adjust the influence size.
  • Use Alt combined with mouse wheel to cycle through the different fall off types, or assign them to their own individual key.

These would be cusomizable in the transform modal keyconfig, like snap is now. Modals are awesome.

I mention 'other interaction' above because of tweak mode. Its great to have the influence size adjustable on the keyboard as well when tweaking Its much easier and faster than holding the mouse button and spinning the wheel while jumping from one vertex to the next.

@Frederick James Guilford: You are aware that <kbd>Shift</kbd>+<kbd>O</kbd> already cycles through the fall-off types, right?

@Jason van Gumster:

Oh cool thanks! Maybe it won't be hard to implement the other part.

How would you propose people activate it? Just press <kbd>O</kbd> (or <kbd>Alt</kbd>+<kbd>O</kbd> for connected PET) while transforming?
