On-the-fly "Zoom to Mouse Position" via Ctrl + Wheel (2D Editors & Camera View)
Currently, "Zoom to Mouse Position" is a static preference checkbox (Preferences > Navigation). Toggling it on/off globally is inconvenient when working across 2D editors (Image Editor, VSE Preview, Movie Clip Editor) and Camera View, where users frequently switch between centering the whole frame and inspecting fine off-center details.
Proposal:
Instead of relying solely on the static checkbox in Preferences, allow a modifier shortcut (Ctrl + Scroll Wheel) to dynamically zoom directly toward the cursor location on the fly:
Normal Wheel Scroll: Retains the user's default/center zoom behavior.
Ctrl + Wheel Scroll: Temporarily overrides and anchors the zoom origin directly to the mouse pointer.
Why this is better:
Eliminates navigating to Preferences to flip a checkbox back and forth.
Provides immediate, fluid control to inspect specific pixel areas without manual pan-and-zoom steps.

I agree, i hate the auto-zoom as in the usuall workflow, it's easier to get sorta gimball-lock or have a close object that raycast distance making you having to scroll more/less and i found it overal less reliable as you never truelly know where your new viewport will be in one wheel-distance. But i over-rely on shift+b to draw box everytime and this could be better to just ctrl+wheel to position and the default wheel keep the usual behavior !
