Add Industry Compatible Vieport Navigation Option
Coming over from different software like Houdini, the most frustrating part about getting started with Blender was the basic viewport navigation! It almost made me quit...
Yes, it's that bad compared to other industry software. And I'm sure it's costing Blender users. The only reason I didn't quit is that I thought "yeah, no way it's this bad and ppl actually use it!?".
It took me hours to figure out that it's possible to get true industry standard navigation. It's just hidden in various strangely named settings, and choosing "Industry Compatible" keymap, also doesn't properly set those...
To get the industry standard “orbit around what’s under my mouse” behavior, I had to enable "zoom to mouse position" and "Depth".
Additionally, rebinding my key binds to rotate, zoom and move using alt+left click, right click and middle mouse - was needlessly hard to get right as well.
I strongly urge to giving users a simple option called "Industry Compatible Vieport Navigation" which makes all of these changes (personally, I would make those the defaults, especially "Depth").

Recently, I was learning a bit of Maya for 3D Animation... and I've noticed, when it comes to Viewport Navigation, I've found that industry standard, notably the "Alt+Clicks", a not so good idea in comparison to what Blender offers by default.
However, I agree with the idea of having Enabled by default the Depth & Zoom To Mouse Position Options; I believe this would be refreshing to new and even older Blender users; it makes everything more dynamic. But I can't agree with Zoom Axis: Horizontal (instead of Vertical). Vertical makes it more logical even, because the MMB Wheel is actually 'oriented along the Y Axis of the Middle Finger Bone'.
I would very much favor more vanilla, Industry Standard, or by software, Presets Options in the Preferences. Actually, isn't there something like that already for Maya users?
If not vanilla, still, Addons (or even closer to vanilla: Extensions) with such kind of Presets Operator could be made... if they don't already exist (free or paid)?? It should be easy Python Scripting... until I've just figured out changing the Options in the Preferences do not seem to send input to the Info (Editor), so I'm a bit unsure now how accessible that would be.
I really don't like the mouse orbit and zoom and I imagine a pretty large portion of blender users agree given how many start with Blender so making it default would definitely not be a great move. Having a quick way to set it, likely in the initial start up where you choose left or right select would be nice though
