have a main viewport shared across worskpaces

Hi people.

I often work with heavy and large scenes, I also use a lot the new workspace features. One thing that can improve the usability is to create an option to set a "main" viewport shared across the workspaces, to keep every option of the main workspace sync along all the other worspaces.

Here is a video representing the actual situation.

here is the experience I'd like to have.

I also made a mock-up to show how I imagine this "main viewport" option.

Agreed!

Another approuch could be something like a toggleable "Sync to Main View" button, which could be disabled to move independently around a viewport instance.

I feel the main concern would be to make it simple enough so that it doesn't get confused with Camera views, but otherwise it would be a really nice feature to have. Image Image (something like this maybe)

* @Luciano Laudani * Fantastic idea you two! I think your solution is more elegant and it is definitely something I would be interested in!

Yes, the current workflow is very disorientating. Sure one can get use to it but it's not at all what I expected. One more reason to have multiple monitors and have fixed windows that don't change.

I agree, because sometimes I isolate object in modeling, different one in UV and when swithcing workspace, I'm confused

Hi, you can add a camera, adjust it to your viewport, lock camera to view and set it to all of your workspaces, that's what I did for my startup file :) That's really useful full to sync view and make quick render from view
It's just a little tinkering, but it works

* @anthony.guiziou * it is what I did in the video. lol. you have to remember to set the camera in every view and unselect it before render. so I think it is a good workaround but not the optimal solution.

* @Massimiliano Puliero * Ah ! I didn't pay attention to it ^^
yes it's not the most practical thing, especially when you have to work on a scene with several cameras and it is confusing, it's for sure that having a menu or being able to preset synchronous views between workspace would be very practical.

I agree. But I don't want to have button.
