Symlink to latest build (then I'll make updater)
Having a symlink like " builder.blender.org/download/blender-2.80-win64-nightly.zip " generated after build is successful would really help (maybe for other branches too)--I am making an updater for Blender 2.8 nightly.
This would hopefully increase interest in Blender 2.8 before the official release, and ease testing for users (and a possibly growing group of testers) who don't have or don't have skill to setup a build environment. I wasn't sure I should post this in developer.blender.org/maniphest/project/31/type/Design/ so I posted it here.

The page is able to be scraped as is, with some footwork, so I removed that issue from the original post. Here is an example from bzzt_ploink:
of course, the extracted folder name will have a generated version string, but that is going to happen with or without a symlink.
If it's anything like the previous open movie projects, the Spring team isn't using daily builds. They're likely building Blender on the fly and using whatever's the latest thing in the branch.
@Jason van Gumster: Can anyone confirm that they update by building and don't have a special updater so I don't repeat work? By the way, having a binary updater that only gets successful builds would hopefully encourage addon developers to make a 2.8 branch on their repos for the API freeze planned at beta (at end of October 2018 )--or sometime before that in case API features can be suggested before the freeze. The core dev team is making 2.8 really awesome, but for add-ons to keep up (the percentage of add-ons marked with warning symbol & "upgrade to 2.8 required" [in the 2.8 add-ons menu] is rather high currently) maybe a updater (that I could make if symlink is added) is one way to help addon developers as well as others.
@poikilos: I'm almost positive that they build locally. Maybe they have a script or two to help automate things, but I'm pretty sure that's how it's done. They're not going to lose a full day of production to wait for the next nightly build that has a bugfix they helped discover.
And cranking out a build on the fly isn't particularly difficult, especially on Linux systems. I make my own builds at least once each day.
@Jason van Gumster: I recently saw in on the YouTube channel they were pulling from git then building to get an update. Conclusion: the original suggestion would be helpful for making a fast updater for end users (that doesn't need a build environment). I've updated the original post to not mention that.
@Jason van Gumster: I have created the updater! See the edit at the end of original post.
@poikilos: Cool! I've updated the status of this to In Development .
