Pen tool in Armature Edit
Currently in blender we extrude the bones bones create the armature, we would have to extrude ony by one, and move and position to get desired armature shape.
If there is pen tool in armature edit mode we can just draw the armature in front view, and just align the armature just in side view, rigging is a bit more easier now!!!
I will not say the current methode is bad, but these even better!!!
Curves in blender already have these, just need those tools here as well. I am sure be helpful here as well.............

Curves can work with this because you don't care much about where the control points are placed so long the final shape is good. Armatures are the opposite, each bone position, rotation and roll is important.
it don't have to be exactly like curve. I mean we click on 1 area it create's a joint, and click on other area create another joint, just like we add curve handles, but we don't need have those fancy functionality's of the curve. We will be able fix the bone rolls once we complete creating base, and fix rotation, and position.....
Is it not possible to press "e" to extrude a bone. So select a bone, press "e", position it, press "e" for next and so on. Do you mean replace "e" with a mouse click?
Already possible: select a bone tail and use ⎈ Ctrl Right 🖱️
You described bone extrusion, which is already in Blender. So what is your proposal about?
ctrl+right is a good method, but if there is a option we can draw the bone, we don't have to worry about the front view, we only need to align the views.
If your rigging a streachy character like snake and all, creating circular chain would for ever.
Also we could have options like draw from the centre of the mesh, snap to volume which is already availabe will not often give a disired result.
