Blender Teams (Cooperative work within a large Team)

I have watched recently the talk between the CEO and the Blender Guru.

I'm not sure whether this features has been talked about, but i would like to mention.

Developers sharing code, but artist don't. I'm not sure what is the feasibility if Blender would get GIT integration and the binary file format could be json also.

What does it mean? You can use binary format, when you load the workspace, but when you commit your work to a git repo, you are able to compare the changes made, others can review accept (in 3D place you can compare), can add feedback, modify etc. Practically it would be a script also, which can translate it to blend file, so you are able to load the screen and work on it.

It would be a killer feature, what 3ds Max, or Maya never would do.

If you are making a specialized software, like for 3D printer whatever, the sceen might not be that complex, but working history would be welcome, so you can measure the improvements.

It's also good for biology or any other environment.

I'm a developer and i have also a very good stunning story from the last 16-17 years (to showcase the story can help a lot in lots of people).

It would be nice, if the community who are learning blender etc. can make an open source movie in the above mentioned way. I feel it would be a smack ass stuff, if you can create a movie in the same way, how linux has been built or any other free source software.

That feature anyway can help a lot if you are making a model for month, as you need to save it, something went wrong revert back etc. Review your changes, merge.

The GIT features simply exist in Github, so only the json and the commiting stuff needs to be coded.

if the file format is binary, making it json text would make it not binary anymore. I wouldn't mind a text based file format like maya's .ma - it would be much more git and dropbox friendly. Currently all the .blend and .blend1 and .blend2 files seem to have to be uploaded in full as brand new files. Makes it very time consuming to use with dropbox or google drive. If the files were text based they'd only need to upload the lines in the file that have changed, much faster.

I think this would be great. I once thought of a community nodegroup library for beginners. This would be the perfect way to organize such a project.
