ability to undo to a specific undo point using python

I create an undo in the undo history with:

bpy.ops.ed.undo_push(message='my_undo')

I'd like to then be able to undo to that point. Currently I can find no way of doing this.

Something like this would be great:

bpy.ops.ed.undo_history('my_undo')

it would undo to the most recent undo history item of that name (in case there are multiple).

currently bpy.ops.ed.undo_history() only accepts an index, but there's no way to find the index from the undo's name, and there's no way to count new entries to the undo history since mine was added.
