Fast Fourier Transform (and Inverse) as Compositor Node

Fourier transform is at the heart of many more complicated image filtration operations. Having direct access to it in the compositor would open up a tremendous wealth of options, especially including more-accurate modeling of optical effects like diffraction.

The Blender codebase already includes the FFTW library and makes heavy use of it for particle effects and simulations.

How would this work exactly? You'd end up with an image containing the FFT data and then apply image processing nodes to that? Or something else?

Yes. That would be actually very useful. The only thing I'm not sure of, is if the Compositor can handle complex numbers.
