How about a more regular topbar?
How about a more regular topbar, filled with the most usual stuff, as seen on most 3d apps? Tbh, this is the kind of stuff I expect from a topbar, not settings.

Finally, the best solution for topbar/toolbar in my opinion. Especially if it can be easily customizable by adding icons with drag&drop or scripting.
@kotulsky: I especially like the way to create softimage shelfs, the other way is to work with tabs and the workspaces to pass them to another menu like the scenes
Big issue : useless while doing animation, paintings, mesh editing, sculpting, VSE, motion tracking, scripting, ...
PERFECT! This is the solution. Finally Blender can have a decent UI. And if this doesn't become a reality, no one can say that it's community's fault, since many people say that the blender users are the ones holding back blender from becoming a user friendly software.
Damn, this mockup made my day, I wish it was real already. Let's go devs, I believe in you guys. ♥
No complains here.... This is the best topbar proposal ever!
I like some parts of it, but context sensitivity is still important. The addition of undo/redo and render buttons is great. Adding objects is also nice to have although this should be context sensitive and only appear when the 3D view is on screen. When in edit mode, all except mesh should be greyed out etc.
I'm not a fan of the 3D Cursor, Box select and transform buttons. They are a duplication from the toolbar and not needed. The modifier, constraints.... buttons might come in handy, but I think they should be only visible when an Object is selected.
@Simon Storl-Schulke: iqual, i like undo/redo buttons, the others not, but the transform buttons and select i like only when teach blender, is more easier and confortable for new users in 3D software.
i like it too
Would that mean a dialog unfolding and covering your work in 3DView when you press one of those buttons, for example physics or particle system? If so, I do not want any dialogue covering and obstructing the view in 3DView while experiencing some changes in configurations. There are a lot of times where you are changing options while you see the changes in your 3dView work at the same time, especially with particles system.
