a shader node, like wireframe, but for vertices

hi, i desperately need a shader node like this for a while now, the equivalent of the wireframe node but for vertices, where you can set the (pixel) size and use it in mixing shaders etc.

this would be useful to render objects as point clouds with every vertex having the same size no matter how close it is to the camera (cant use instancer to do this, because of perspective)

so what do you people think? would this be useful for you as well? is it clear? or shall i post screenshots?

this is what im trying to achieve: postimg.cc/YG4YPcTq

also this might be helpful: postimg.cc/2bPhRcfd

thanks

In the wireframe, what is the white low poly mesh underneath everything? Is that rendered in the other views?

It seems to me that something like this should be possible with OSL. At the very least, that could give you a mock-up that shows what you're trying to achieve.

* @Jason van Gumster * yes, i tried to do it yesterday with OSL but didnt manage to. its really confusing for me. but i can show what im trying to achieve, till now i am using after effects for this effect. but i want to avoid it and do all work inside blender. i will attach a screenshot

* @aombkappa * Try using dupligroups which includes cloning child oblect to vertices or faces

* @mittisimone * yes i have tried that. it doesnt come without problems. the scene becomes very heavy. but ltets pretend thats ok. when i use vertices for instancing, i cannot get color form texture. when i use faces for instancing, i cannot align properly
