environment pass improvement
I'm trying to create a shadow/reflection catcher in the compositor, but I've run into the problem that the environment pass is partially masked out by the geometry. I'm not sure when this masking would be useful. It would be far better if the environment pass was just the full environment without any masking from objects. So basically it would just be an image of the background as seen from the camera if no objects were in the scene.

I think this can be done with a second render layer with all objects hidden. Haven't had the time to work out the new Render Layers system with collections, but I imagine as it was easy in 2.79 it should be at least doable :-)
You might want to post in BlenderArtists about how to achieve this.
* @ammusionist * In Cycles, you can open the Filter tab in the View Layer properties panel and disable Surfaces, Ambient Occlusion, (Freestyle), and Hair. That leaves just the environment. Or you can create a new, empty view-layer, too.
