Mirror X is lonely: Misses Y and Z

In Sculpt and Paint modes, we have the ability to use symmetry for X, Y or Z directions.

But for mesh editing, we only have the ability to mirror on the X axis.

It would be really nice, and just more consistent, if Edit Mode also had Y and Z mirroring too.

without the ability to mirror created geometry (extrusions and cuts )instead of only basic transform operations like move and scale it seems this is bordering complete inutilty. Do we have some history about this feature becuase it seems it was abandoned half way through.

I it would be handy to have an automatic mirror selection mode, in addition to mirror modifier. This would do what you're suggesting.

Orphydian

yeah AKA Symmetry mode exactly like Sculpting

This is in now, can we mark this 'done'? Next, I'd love to have modeling tools function with mirroring too! Would make mirroring consistent along the whole line

* @Orphydian * Those things are not related to this proposal. The proposal is simply to add Z and Y mirroring where we currently only have X.
