PANIC BUTTON!!!!!!!!!!

User's make mistakes sometimes that their PC's don't like. Some softwares such as Houdini have a panic button which allows the user to override current tasks that if left to run would welcome in the next millenium.

I suggest Blender also gets a panic button to eliminate potential data loss due to having to restart via the task manager.

I think there is a previous proposal for it having same idea. Just scroll you will find same proposal half an hour ago. not only this but also 2 same proposals i had seen in the past, I think blender should have function to suggest the proposal related to what you are writing by keywords.

* @mrajendra2150 * "should have function to suggest the proposal related to what you are writing by keywords"

Many communities and forums have a similar feature. This would be great for blender.community . Would you like to start a meta-proposal?

mrajendra2150

* @zorro.weaver * I also write that thing to a proposal but they said it would cost extra bucks to have such feature, it was there previously but removed due to Money constraint, this is must as i found so many duplicate request on RCS.

Yeah, but then i believe you need to have some major changes to the blender architecture, cause that would mean that every process would need to start in a different thread ? What if there would be a warning before, based on the calculation of RAM, CPU, etc..

* @alpha3delta * Maybe my "enable safeties on some dangerous values" blender.community/c/rightclickselect/7nhbbc/ would be the way to go. Then the warning would be before, and you would have a chance to cancel it before changing the value.

I like the idea tough I am afraid it's one of those things that needs changing blender's architecture and build a new software completely.

Just search "Panic" and you will find old proposal which has more vote count.

afaik unfortunetly UI is not separated from logic thread so it also is stuck

EzyPoly

Don't panic, it's organic.. )

I didn't understand you completely but if the autosave is on, you can recover any file.

Vyach

Agree. Just in case of unnecessary subdivisions or too high remesh level.

You can press esc to cancel long operations such as renders, bakes, and proxies. Sometimes that ends up crashing it though. Not sure if a panic button would work without crashing. Maybe a setting in user preferences to reserve memory for the panic button to prevent such a crash? It would make the operations take somewhat longer, but could end up saving hours.

Can you describe the PANIC BUTTON more elaborately? I didn't find any documentation for it online.

* @eonneon * You press it to cancel the current operation.
