Index Position Normal is Default in Viewer Node
I noticed that when working with geo nodes
I refer to 3 values very often.
The Index, Position and Normal.
But to view them in the viewer
I constantly need to recreate them!!!
So why not add them by default in the Viewer?
UPD: I suggest this procedure. In any case, there should be 3 radio buttons in a row. If nothing is included in the value and button is enabled, then the preview of the selected button is enabled.
If it is turned on(that is, the node is connected to the value), all the buttons automatically go out in the likeness of a new dimming of the inputs.

I think the viewer in geometry nodes needs to be rethinked completely, right now it works really well but indeed is not very artist-friendly. We always have to plug those attributes in, if they're not hanging around, you have to create a new node just to preview them (just like you said, but works also with custom named attributes) If you dare to enter a node group, the viewer just decides to hide itself for some reasons. Maybe they could rework the Attribute shading mode in viewport, and make it work with geometry nodes fields/attributes viewing. But that's a big take
