In Quad view port mode only render the camera quadrant.

Dose, 2.8 ONLY render the camera viewport in quad view mode? If not please conciser having separate quad viewport rendering selection. The overhead in 2.7x to render all for views can cripple a machine. Not only is it nice to see your model from different sides. It's also nice to see the scene/model in different view modes on the same screen. Or I'll just make a new "Workspace" tab, but that doesn't address the camera border showing up in every viewport.

I've found quad view to be useless for me and made a quad workspace with 4 independent 3d viewports and saved it to my startup file.

I'm not sure what you mean here.

If you start a regular render, it will always use the scene's main camera no matter what.
If you do a "Viewport Render Image" (via the viewport's "View" menu) while in quad view, it will render from the prespective area.

* @-L0Lock- * I think othoap is suggesting that the other 3 areas in quad view not show the render preview.

Of course, my question then is, "what should they show?" And if they're showing something other than the rendered view, does that mean each quad should be able to have its own individual display type? And if that's the case, then why not just use four 3D Viewport areas to give yourself maximum control?

* @Jason van Gumster * thanks, yes. If you have a large scene and you render in quad mode, OMG it will cripple your PC (and I have 4 GPU card). Effectively you are rendering 4 jobs at once. So the first goal is to NOT render all four pains only the camera one. Next it would be nice to select wire, solid shade, for the others.

Ok I understand.
Yeah, good point. Maybe a simple checkbox in the Preferences → Viewport to enable/disable the rendering on camera view only. It seems simple and I guess it should be On by default.
