Better Imports!!
As Blender moves into a more professional space, it's essential that it make importing and exporting a wide variety of file types from a wide variety of other applications easy and reliable. Right now, even importing FBX files is fraught with peril if they come from proprietary applications like Daz or Character Creator 3.
Blender has such powerful animation tools, and all the other 3D support for such projects, that it would be a natural 'home base' application if file imports and exports were seamless.

The problem is that many dedicated file formats require closed code for licensing reasons. These will probably never be supported by Blender. As an open source community, we need to support the Blender team in enforcing open standards in the industry.
I understand the pain, however some non open formats had a long history of making it deliberately complex, some devs took their freetime to reverse engineer their formats.
Alltogehter CAD formats en Blender dont mix that well.
Ask for STEP files (which you can convert in freecad),
DEA files (maintains a bit more then obj) OBJ (the most basic shape def)
