Transform numeric input should optionally inherit axis sign from initial mouse direction
When performing constrained transforms, Blender could optionally infer the sign (+/-) of numeric input from the initial mouse movement direction.
Example
Current workflow: G → X → move mouse toward negative X → type 3 → Enter
Current result: Object moves +3 on X axis.
Expected optional behavior: Object moves -3 on X axis.
The same would apply to: Move (G); Extrude (E); Scale (S, potentially); Other constrained transforms;
Why this would help
For many CAD, architecture, fabrication, and SketchUp-style workflows, the user already communicates directional intent through the initial mouse movement.
Currently, Blender requires explicitly typing the minus sign even after the direction has already been visually indicated.
This can interrupt dimensional modeling workflows where users frequently:
constrain axis, indicate direction, type distance, confirm.
This could be added as:
an optional preference, or a transform behavior toggle.
Default behavior could remain unchanged for backward compatibility.
Benefits
More intuitive dimensional modeling; Better onboarding for CAD/SketchUp users; Faster architectural workflows; Reduced friction in precision modeling; Preserves existing Blender workflow if optional;
