Proposal: Kaleidoscope Star Mirror Geonode Modifier

What Kaleidoscope Star Mirror Geonode Modifier can use for:

  • Starfish
  • Car Wheel Spokes
  • Logo/Icon/Symbols
  • Ornaments

Features similiar to Mirror Modifier:

  • Circular (Star) Array : Geometry will be Duplicated in Circular Array
  • Clamping/Clipping Geometry inside it arc. (I use an arc extruded object to boolean input geometry)
  • Merge intersection mirror points together. (This feature will save time from manual work)

Notes:

  • This new modifier could be called Star Mirror or Kaleidoscope Mirror for short.
  • This modifier can just be integrated into Mirror Modifier as an upgrade version of Mirror.
  • I can share my node if any developer want a reference (when this proposal have a link in Blender Developer).

Example (my custom node):

I don't think so. The new Array Modifier use Geometry node have Circular Array, but the difference between Array and Mirror is the 2 feature I mentioned above: Clipping/Clamping Geometry and Merge Vertices in Intersection zone.

The name is irritating me a little bit. So its "just" a circular array if i understand correctly ?

You are half correct. My proposal can be called Star Mirror or Kaleidoscope Mirror for short. And it act like a (Kaleidoscope) Mirror more than an Circular Array.

What it can do is not just circular array but have 2 more critical features:

1 - One is the object will be clamped/clipped inside it arc (I use an arc extruded object to boolean input geometry)

2 - Two is merge intersection mirror points together. This feature is super helpful, without it you will have to do manual work and will take a very long time.

More over, this can just be integrate into Mirror Modifier (Geonode base ofcourse)

I can share my node if any developer want a reference and somewhere I can post download link
