Blendswap/blender_market builtin browser (add-on)

As a proposition, there might be a browser for blendswap or/and blender market for accessing their content from within blender. Just like the textures cloud add-on. It will let you quickly find and download desired content into your scene. I know, it could be quite a complex work. Consider it as a thought.

This developer may be of some help as well, blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php he created an addon to preview and import freesound assets directly in the VSE. Awesome!!!

@Fweeb Do you know the API used for the textures cloud add-on. We've thought about an add-on like this for quite a while, maybe it's time to get one started. Thanks

jason

I think it's specific to the cloud, but probably reusable. I'd suggest talking to Francesco (fsiddi) or Sybren (sybren) on #blendercoders for more details on how it works and how you might be able to use it.

Those things would probably be best developed by the folks at the Blender Market and Blendswap. It would require an API (like the textures cloud add-on does), and only those sites could specify such an API. By extension, that means that the developers behind those sites are the best suited for creating such add-ons.

Well, you're right. I think that developers visit this site, and it's a good platform to propose this, isn't it?

jason

At least for having a record of the idea, yes. Probably wouldn't hurt to send them a direct email, though. :)
