Easier ways to upload images to Right-Click Select
It would be faster and easier for users if we could upload images here like this:
- Take screenshot from Blender or something else and paste it here from clipboard
- Drag & drop images to this text typing window
- Paste a URL link from 3rd party image upload services

I'm marking this as In Development since this is something we are currently working on (and care about). Thanks for the feedback.
* @Pablo Vazquez * Maybe you currently working even on old issue with not showing more than 15 suggestion on user profile? This one issue
* @IIIFGIII * We are rewriting the whole system under the hood. Which already tackles this issue because it's a completely different approach and has been tested thoroughly.
* @Pablo Vazquez * "We are rewriting the whole system under the hood." 👍Sounds good.
I think this is done now?
This should be marked as done.
In Development > GREAT STUFF !!
The third option already exists and I always use it.
Just use HTML code right in the text editor.
<b>You can even color your text</b>
* @Anže * <h6 style="color:Tomato;"> Thanks for colors, now I know how :)</h6> It work even in fokin titles, why I didn't knew it before ! So many wasted advantages !!!!
* @Anže * But the problem is that you need to learn HTML code before uploading a single image. And for the sake of good user experience and faster & easier implementing your ideas here. Not how do you do it with HTML?
Just drag & drop or paste from clipboard. Super fast & easy:
Takes 2-3 seconds.
* @UIoa * You always need to know something. Even to poo some shit you need to know how... But the problem is that you need to learn (something) - real problem of todays stupid world... But u still need...
* @IIIFGIII * Everything can just be made easier. Sure, it requires code changes in the forums backend/frontend, but Blender might benefit & get more visual feedback if barrier of learning HTML wouldn't be necessary to do this simple action.
* @UIoa * 1. Proposals for RCS should be tagged as Meta. 2. Believe me - no one care. They (those who manage this website) can't fix problem with not showing more than 15 suggestions on profile page more than year.... Or not they can't , but they don't care . So better to just learn how instead of waiting for miracles :)
Sure, having more tools to ease the posts formatting and media insertion would be welcome.
RCS uses Markdown, kind of human-readable intermediary language that allows you to do simple things in a simple way and the site will translate it to HTML. See the markdown cheat sheet link you see when writing a message here.
I.E:
* Text formatting: *
HTML:
Markdown:
Result:
Bold Italic
* Picture insertion: * HTML:
Markdown:
Result:
Though the issues are :
Markdown, although simple, needs to be learned
Markdown doesn't allow to do everything HTML can, and thus you need to know HTML if you want to do more than what markdown can
There isn't one standard markdown, though most of the variants use the same code for the same things, they basically don't support the same amount of things and some websites adapt their markdown for their own specs. I.E. the French ZDS forum uses custom Markdown to allow its users to create their custom warning/error/information/question/secret bloc:
RCS does not support the entire markdown most websites do, like GitHub's Flavoured Markdown which is one most recognized variants and frankly quite a good one for starters. End this site doesn't allow to use all the essential HTML code neither.
Even the supported Markdown isn't quite well formatted. Do you see this bullet list ? Each element isn't very distinct, bullets are small. Have you noticed that code preview doesn't have any syntax highlighting, this being essential for correct code reading?
So, needless to say there's a lot of things to do here. From what I understood, Dillo (the web platform used for the entire blender.community and Flamenco , is maintained by only a few people, and on their free time if I understood. So, little manpower with little time to work on this platform used by so many people.
Markdown was introduced due to its huge adoption in popular sites. If reddit with millions of users use it then Blender Community should be fine with it too. Then drag-and-drop of files was added to the comments but needs to be added to posts still.
We are currently working on a new version completely rewritten from scratch, which will tackle this and many other problems plus introducing long-standing feature requests by the community. It will take a while but we are hoping for the upcoming months before the winter (like you said, this website is only developed by two people, Francesco and I, on our free time after work).
