ADD A QUAD TOPOLOGY OPTION FOR BUILT IN FONT

Blender's default font currently produces tessellated faces when converted to a mesh. This works well for displaying and extruding text, but creates unnecessary cleanup when the text is going to be used as modeling geometry.

It would be extremely useful if Blender's built-in/default font could have an option to generate a clean quad-based mesh when converted to geometry.

The proposal is specifically for the bundled default font, rather than trying to solve automatic quad generation for every possible imported font.

A predefined topology for the standard alphabet, numbers, and common punctuation could be generated once and then scaled to any font size. This would make the resulting letters much more useful for:

  • Deforming text around curved surfaces
  • Wrapping lettering onto bottles and other objects
  • Bending and shaping lettering
  • Adding supporting edge loops
  • Subdivision Surface workflows
  • Modeling logos and product lettering

An option such as "Fill: Quads" alongside the existing text geometry options could allow users to choose between the current tessellated topology and modeling-friendly quad topology.

This would not need to change the existing behavior. It could simply provide a second topology option for users who intend to convert the text into editable modeling geometry.

Text is an extremely common modeling element in Blender, and having a clean quad-based topology option for the bundled default font would eliminate a significant amount of unnecessary retopology work.
