Context icons fun
Folks, I wonder whether I am the only one who gets confused by the context icons for Particles, Physics and Object Constraints.
It goes about like this:
Okay, these dots are connected, so it is constraints, right?, Eh, no it is a pendulum, so it must be Physics, yes?
Ah, a hydrogen atom. Atoms are particles, right?
Something mechanical, hmm. Mechanics is a subdiscipline of Physics, correct?
I have the vague feeling that somewhere out there are icons which communciate more clearly which is which...

I understand the frustration but you're not presenting a solution, just complaining about the obvious. That's not what this forum is here for, you're supposed to submit your proposals presenting the changes you'd like to see inside of Blender and how they're supposed to be implemented.
You can go to developer.blender.org and start a new topic there with the Icon designer and present your improved icon set.
You've clearly described an issue you're having, but you haven't actually proposed a solution (the purpose of this site). What would your vision of improved icons look like (maintaining the same 16px constraints of the current designs)?

Well, I'm sorry if that came across unconstructive. I intentionally didn't suggest specific replacement. I had expected there are plenty around. And of course such things are a question of taste, so my own favorite likely won't match the majority of users.
But as you asked about a concrete proposal, I find the 2.79 icons much more understandable. So I would be in favor of reverting the mentioned 3 ones to the 2.79 ones (or probably rather to a version consistent in looks with the rest). For physics this alternative I would even prefer:
It's similar to the current one, but is a widely known symbol for physics and thus easier understood.
