Instances of a object with a different color at te outliner

This is a minor aesthetic thing, but a nice to have it would be when I instanciate a object it would show up with a lighter or a darker color at the outliner.

There's a little problem: Blender doesn't instance objects it instances object data to objects . Each object associated with a mesh datablock has every bit as much of a right to be called the owner of the data as any other. How can Blender know which is the original? But perhaps you mean all objects that share data should be given an overlay color? I like that idea.

I see what you mean. It could help solve an issue I have when a scene contains linked and local data blocks. I have no way of distinguishing them at a glance.

Better still would simply be a comprehensive spreadsheet editor where this kind of thing could be sorted in a columnar fashion like Maya's spreadsheet.
