MODIFIERS on METABALLS!!!
What? What the hell? I just found out this craziness! Why in this universe can't metaballs have modifiers? Wouldn't it be quite easy to force the object to have a hidden CONVERT TO MESH when a user adds a modifier to one of these?

Ideally, any object that produces mesh should have all modifiers that make sense available. That include metaballs and curves.
Yes - solidify for example would be a great modifier to add after Meta. or a boolean even.
what modifier should be added in metaballs? just mirror or array but it's not really useful
Pretty much all of them could be used on meatballs
I think that PolyMad means modifiers "after" Metaballs... so the modifiers don't affect the balls but the geometry resulting after the metaball merges the surface. I agree 100% with the need to get modifiers for metaballs.
Probably doable with a kind of live Geometry Node conversion and applying the modifiers after the GN, I have not tested it but the concept seems doable...
Yes, I also understood it that way.
Although I don't see why this should involve geometry nodes or whatsoever. Modifiers affect the object's geometry "as is" from the modifier's position in history, that's their design. No need to add extra steps.
In example, UV PROJECT for having a set of UV ready. Another could be DECIMATE, so to kill those vertexes that are very close.
Yes of course. And yes it shouldn't be anything too difficult, as we always have the final mesh ready so just apply the modifiers on the final result. I am sure it is trivial.
